Busy days call for sleepless nights

Published by kaabruur19 under Uncategorized Edit This

Slept in again with my little man until about 9:30 and it was amazing!  Picked up a little, did dishes and got myself ready for work.  It snowed a ton today!  I am just ready for spring to arrive for sure.

Got to work and was on the go nonstop!  By the time everyone left, I had an echo and abdomen limited leftover.  I went upstairs to do the abdomen only to see the patient was in contact isolation so I had to gown up and put a mask and gloves on.  The nurse was in there checking vitals and trying to find a vein to put the IV in, so I was interrupted many times.  I was up there for over an hour I swear.  I went downstairs and started to get ready to do the echo when ER paged me with a gallbladder.  I was secretly excited that I didnt have to do the echo, but we wont say anthing… lol!  I went portable to ER and did that pretty quickly!  By that time it was about 10 pm and I hadnt had lunch so I clocked out without a lunch and went on my merry way HOME!  I came home to my wonderful husband and little boy in bed reading.  How awesome is that??!!  They just mean so much to me….

Another snowy day

Published by kaabruur19 under Uncategorized Edit This

Slept in yet again this morning and tried to relax the best I could before going into work.  1:30 came too soon.  I dropped Avery off at daycare and headed to work.

At work things were pretty steady.  I grabbed an abdomen and whipped that out pretty quick.  Then I had a baby testicle, which was quite annoying because he would NOT sit still!  He was a cute little thing though!  I did a few others, and then it was quiet.  I was hoping that Tera would do one of the inpatients that were left, but she left early, so it was up to me.  Oh well, it made the time fly.  I did an echo and carotid on a really nice lady and I was smart and brought her downstairs instead of going portable.  Go me!  It actually wasnt that bad.  I secretly hate echos…  I did not get a single thing the rest of the night.  Which honestly was quite nice because i havent had a night like that in forever!  Went to Walmart after I got out and got the necessities.  The weather and roads were terrible.  Took me like forty five minutes to get home.  Got home, fed the kitties, and put the groceries away.  Washed my face and took my contacts out, and here I am diddling around with the computer at one in the morning.  Need to go to bed so I can get up with my sweet little girl tomorrow.  Peace!

Just a quiet day at home

Published by kaabruur19 under Uncategorized Edit This

Woohoo it was my day off today!  I vowed I was not going anywhere today, but my plans came to an abrupt halt when Ally’s school called to tell me we forgot her tennis shoes.  Ugh!  I was actually glad that we went out because the sun was out, and it was quite refreshing.  Came home and cleaned the house really nice, and packed up our old printer to send back to Dell.  I still cant believe they sent us a new one.  It just sucks that you have to talk to people you dont understand for hours before you get anything accomplished.  Adam brought ice cream and green beans home from work today and I am cooking chicken and stove top… yummy!  Kind of an cheater dinner for me being home today, but oh well.

Ashley wants me to book my flight to West Virginia tonight.  I want to but the only thing thats stopping me is the date that I am taking my abdomen boards.  I want to take my boards before I go, so I am just waiting for them to send me the ok to schedule my test day.  I NEED to get away… im so excited to just be me for a weekend and not have to worry about a single thing.  The sooner I go, the better!  I was going to go February 13 but honestly the thought of flying on Friday the 13th freaks me out a little even though im not really superstitous.  Besided, I would love to go in January anyways.  Ironically the cheapest date to fly is Friday the 13th.  They must have a hard time booking that day.

Well im off to check on my baked chicken and get everyone around for dinner!  Wish I had some more of that cranberry wine, but we drank the whole bottle last night!  Ugh it was so good!

Just keeps getting closer

Ally had a snow day today.  Ugh!  Got up this morning and got her around only to have her wait outside for ten minutes for the bus to come.  No bus.  Silly mom and dad should have checked the school closings list before we woke everyone up!!  Luckily everyone went back to bed, so we slept until like 10:30.  I woke up and checked my email, etc, and looked over to see my two little monsters sitting so cute together in my bed.  It was ADORABLE!

So i had a 40 dollar store card to Target AND a five dollar off 50 dollar coupon so I packed up the two kids and took them to Muskegon.  We mused around Target for a good hour and a half searching for stuff that we “needed”.  I came out with a candle, diapers, wipes, toothpaste, migrain medicine, childrens motrin, and laundry soap.  Man fifty dollars does NOT go far.  It just plain sucks.  Ally was begging me to go to Chuck-E-Cheese so I couldnt back out on that.  We went and Ally played her 12 quarters.  Two of the games ate our quarters damnit.  That sucks.  What a ripoff.  I told one of the workers but she sort of just blew me off.  Thats 50 cents man!  The trip home was fast, but we were all TIRED.  I just keep getting older by the day.  Im only 24, but rarely get out of the house unless its for work, so I feel like whenever I do anything it takes a toll on me!

Adam came home with a delicious bottle of cranberry wine and we had spaghetti for dinner.  Im pretty buzzed as I am typing this, so I wouldnt be surprised if it sounds extremely ridiculous.  Off to wath the Batchelor in a minute! SOOOO excited!

Humoring my self pity

Published by kaabruur19 under Uncategorized Edit This

Living up north has been interesting.  Besides the occasional near death of a fox, coyote, and a bear by my car, wherever you go its usually a pretty drive.  Living minutes from Lake Michigan beach has been an experience also.  It goes from mountains of sand at the beach, to mounds and mounds of sand in my vehicle, to piles of sand in my house carpets and floor.  So when the Kirby salesman knocked on my door this summer and offered to ‘clean my carpets’  it comes to no surprise that I gladly and naively took her up on the offer.  After watching demonstration upon demonstration of the shitpiles of sand that I knew were  lurking in my carpet, i decided i had to purchase one.  You know, because I NEED this huge cadillac of a vacuum, AND there was the added bonus that the saleslady gets more ‘points’ to go to Mackinac Island.  I did it mostly so the lady got her points, ya know?  Everyone was happy in the end.  So now i vacuum EVERY day, and ive even found a way for Adam to be in on the fun.  He likes to play ‘where did Kristy leave the vacuum today’ game where I leave the vacuum in the middle of the floor that i last vacuumed.  That Adam loves his games.  Hes also become quite fond of ‘why is there an empty milk jug in the fridge’ and the ‘Ally can you get me some toilet paper’ game while sitting on the toilet.  Great times, great times.

So this past Monday I was franctically calling the thousands of friends that I have here to see if they would go to GR with me on Tuesday to my orthodontist appt and then go shopping while we were at it.  At the end of the night there were so many people that wanted to go that i had to call all of them and cancel because there wasnt enough room to go.  So I decided to go by myself.  So on Tuesday after dropping Avery off at daycare and was about to head to Allys school to drop her off, Ally asks ‘mom where are you going’ to which I replied in an annoying voice, ‘fine I guess you can skip school today and go with me since you keep bugging me about it.’  So off we went me and my best friend to Grand Rapids.  We didnt have much time to shop after my appointment was done so we needed to prioritize.  We wanted to go to the cool stores that have the latest fall fashions… you know like Gymboree and Baby Gap.  So after much whining from Ally that she wanted to stay in baby gap all day, i finally dragged her out and we went home.

The other night Adam and I really felt like spending time together when I got out of work.  So we decided to get the playing cards out.  Ally won the game of Uno 3 times!  Dont feel so sorry for me, we do get to go out… the best part about it is we only have to drive 1 1/2 hours one way to drop the kids off at our nearest babysitters.  My moms.  But its not that bad.  Especially when theres bears to see and shit.  We got to go out the other night in fact.  I was shaking my behind at a bachelorette party and Adam went to a ducks and beer unlimited meeting.  We were together though at the end of the night… on the phone where we drunkenly had a deep conversation.  Adam even remembers everything we talked about.

Its that time of year again for our entire house to be sick every day of the winter.  But at our house, its not just the common cold.  We get ringworm, infected spider bites, and green shit oozing out of eyes.  My kids have become quite the connoseuers of antibiotics.  Its become such a staple in our house that you can find a bottle almost anywhere.  The fridge, bathroom cabinets, underwear drawers, you name it.  My personal fave is the bubblegum flavor.  I think that one is called amoxicillan.  Ive been wrong before though.

Every now and again i get the urge to do something ‘different.’  You know, like rearranging the furniture, painting walls, and cloth diapering to name a few.  The other night Adam came home from work to find Avery in one of his cloth diapers and he says, ‘wft is on my kids tush?’  To which i replied in a i do this all the time voice, ‘a cloth diaper.’  He goes on and on and on about how people dont do that anymore and if they do they have a diaper service.  He was disgusted by the thought of having poo and urine sitting in a pile smelling and rotting.  I reassured him that its not THAT bad and that all you gotta do is, take the diaper off carefully as to not let any pieces of undigested pieces of corn fall out, put a clothespin on your nose, dump the poo out in the shitter and pray to God a chunk doesnt land hard in the pot and make a splash of toilet water hit you in the eye.  If its a diarrhea diaper, all you have to do is put the whole diaper in the toilet and swish it around and keep flushing until the diaper looks almost clean.  Im not sure why, but I couldnt convince him.  I guess I will just have to do it myself on my days off.

I wrote this last night before I called in TWICE and it was much better and funnier.  Unfortunately, myspace ate it, and its nowhere to be found.  For some reason though i cant quite get in the mood to be funny this morning.  I did learn a moral to this story though.  Always try to look at the bright side of things no matter what… and that loud snoring keeps me awake at night and makes me write blogs.

All in all i love my life and wouldnt have it any other way.  Sure we have absolutely no help with ANYTHING, but thats why we are pretty close knit family of four.  When we do things, it is SPECIAL, and that really is what life is all about :)
